SurveysBefore we can decide what needs to be done we must first find out what is there. Therefore BoG-WiG is carrying out a series of surveys, beginning with owl pellets (to see what small mammals are around), red squirrels and water shrews. Funding has been provided to help us acquire necessary equipment for this work. Our latest purchase is a pair of digital cameras that are triggered by movement and which can be left unattended in promising locations to record which creatures use the area. Click here for the remote camera survey page. Allan and Heather have already undergone some training for survey work and encourage other BoGWiG members to do the same. We can usually acquire funding for members to attend relevant courses. As well as the on-going remote camera, owl, water shrew and red squirrel surveys, other surveys crop up from time to time and whenever possible BoGWiG gets involved. You will find these on the miscellaneous surveys page. |
